General information

Employment opportunities with the Department

Like all government departments and agencies, the Ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie (MRIF) recruits its employees from banks of qualified individuals (new process).

To add your name to one or more of these banks, you must register for the qualification process and pass the corresponding exams.

When MRIF has a position to be filled, it consults the banks of qualified individuals to select the candidates whose profile corresponds to the desired criteria and contacts them for an interview.

If you have already passed a recruitment competition and your name is on a list of declaration of aptitude (former process), please note that government departments and agencies may also use these lists to fill their positions during their transition to the new staffing process.

To find out more about the new qualification process and current recruitment competitions, please consult the Careers portal and create your online file.

Student jobs and internships with the Department

If you are a student and would like to work at MRIF, you must register on the Online Placement website. Candidates are selected randomly and impartially from the bank of student applicants. The selection process is based on a number of criteria, including whether the position is related to the area of studies.

To obtain an internship at MRIF, please contact the internship coordinator of your educational establishment to consult the internships on offer. When positions involving internships are offered at MRIF, those internship offers are forwarded to the various educational establishments for posting.

Québec sans frontières

The Québec sans frontières Program (QSF) provides international solidarity internships for Quebecers between the ages of 18 and 35. The MRIF funds and coordinates the Québec Without Borders Program in collaboration with the Québec Association of International Cooperation Organizations (AQOCI). Member agencies of AQOCI are responsible for project planning and organization.

Group internships lasting 60 to 75 days take place in a country in Francophone Africa, Latin America or the Antilles. They are open to students as well as individuals who are already on the job market, making a career change or seeking employment. Young people between the ages of 18 and 35 are given an opportunity to hone their personal and professional skills by participating in tangible projects in a broad range of fields (community health, education, environment, solidary economy, communication and more).

Some specialized internships may even carry college or university credit. Young people are able to participate as interns or guides. When they return, they can do an internship at an international solidarity organization in Québec.
