Areas of collaboration
The Québec Government Office in Abidjan will promote Québec expertise in areas such as transportation, environmental protection, agriculture, education, and technical and vocational training. It will work to support Québec companies and organizations endeavouring to position themselves in Côte d’Ivoire and, more broadly, in the West African subregion.
A Québec-Côte d’Ivoire call for cooperation projects (French only) was launched on December 4, 2017. The call for projects is aimed at organizations and institutions in the following sectors: education, professional and technical capacity building, economic and social participation of women and youth, and food security and nutrition.
Education and immigration
Many Côte d’Ivoire citizens come to study in Québec each year. In 2016, 565 Côte d’Ivoirians obtained a permit to study in Québec. In addition, for the 2012-2016 period, 6,675 immigrants from Côte d’Ivoire were admitted to Québec, which represents a yearly average of approximately 1,335 people.
