THE XIIIe Colloque pédagogique de l’Alliance française de São Paulo (AF-SP) (13th Instructional Symposium of the São Paulo French Alliance) was held recently in Brazil. The Québec Government Office in São Paulo (QGOSP) was one of the partners of this major event that brought together nearly 200 teachers from the French Alliance and other Brazilian French instruction networks.

The theme of the activity was Learning and Teaching in the 21st Century: Changes in Teacher-Student-Knowledge Paradigms. QCOSP Director, Louis Hamann, took part in the opening ceremony together with AF-SP Director General, Maurice Nahory, Delegate General of the French Alliances in Brazil, Yann Lorvo, Consul General of France in São Paulo, Sylvain Itté, and Chargée d’affaires of the Consulate General of Belgium in São Paulo, Véronique Marounek.

In his speech, Mr. Hamann stressed the importance of cooperation with AF-SP to promote francization and culture. He also took advantage of the occasion to promote the very first Forum mondial de la langue française (World Forum for the French Language), which will be held in Québec City this coming July.

Numerous French instruction specialists attended the symposium. Québec was represented by Zita de Koninck, Professor, Faculté des lettres, Université Laval, and Josianne Basque, Professor, Unité d'enseignement et de recherche Éducation, TÉLUQ.
