National Assembly marks 50th anniversary of Québec Government Office in London

Monique Gagnon-Tremblay, the Minister of International Relations and Minister responsible for La Francophonie tabled a motion in the National Assembly today to mark the 50th anniversary of the Québec Government Office in London. The motion was adopted unanimously.

“That the National Assembly of Québec mark the 50th anniversary of the Québec Government Office in London, a major player in the historic and mutually beneficial relations between Québec and the United Kingdom, Québec’s most important economic partner in Europe;

“That the members of the National Assembly of Québec express their resolve to build even stronger relations with this international partner of first importance for Québec, especially in a year when the Summer Olympics will be held in London.”


It was in 1962 that Hugues Lapointe took up his duties as Québec’s Agent-General in the British capital.

The United Kingdom is one of the first countries where Québec opened a permanent representation.
