Minister of International Relations, La Francophonie and Export Trade (MRIFCE) Jean-François Lisée met with New Hampshire Commissioner of Natural Resources and Economic Development George Bald on September 27. This was Mr. Lisée’s first meeting as MRIFCE Minister with an American dignitary.

Mr. Lisée used the occasion to reiterate to Commissioner Bald the importance that Québec attaches to its relations with New Hampshire and to emphasize the Government of Québec’s priorities, notably with respect to the economy and energy. The Minister also invited New Hampshire to participate in the next annual meeting of the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers (CNEG-ECP), which will be held in Québec in 2013. Mr. Bald, moreover, expressed New Hampshire’s interest in CNEG-ECP.

New Hampshire is part of New England, which is a priority region for Québec in the United States. Trade between Québec and New Hampshire totalled $1.1 billion in 2011, a 2.3% increase over 2010.
