Promoting Québec education in Europe

Representatives from ten Québec universities participated in the European Association for International Education (EAIE) Conference, which was held this year in Dublin, Ireland from September 11 to 14.

This mission received support from the Québec Government Office in London, the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport, du ministère des Relations internationales, de la Francophonie et du Commerce extérieur, and the Conference of Rectors and Principals of Québec Universities (CREPUQ).

One of three main international education forums

A major education event, EAIE 2012 hosted over 4,000 participants from 67 countries and all continents. This huge international event was an opportunity for Québec universities to network with a view to setting up cooperation and student mobility agreements with representatives from other educational institutions and foreign governments.

In addition to the hundreds of contacts that were made, Québec universities and government representatives:

  • exchanged information on strategies and marketing tools used by the various States and universities to promote educational opportunities and recruit foreign students.
  • participated in workshops on issues of concern to Québec in the area of promoting educational opportunities, such as global student mobility trends, the use of social media to reach foreign clientele, regional promotional and recruitment initiatives, etc.

Furthermore, a networking activity was held by the Québec Government Office in London for all of the Québec representatives and around fifty representatives from foreign universities.

It should be noted that one of the objectives of the Québec Government’s European Strategy is to promote individual mobility. Accordingly, one of the priority actions of this strategy is to promote Québec’s educational opportunities more in Europe in order to draw a larger number of European students to Québec.
