Chicago : le Québec présent à la Midwest Arts Conference 2012

Opening activity of the 2012 Midwest Arts Conference.

With support from the Québec Government Office in Chicago, eleven booking agents representing 36 Québec shows participated in the 2012 Midwest Arts Conference in Grand Rapids, Michigan, in September. This celebration of the performing arts brings together some 1,000 performing artists, booking agents and presenters from the United States and Canada each year.

The participants from Québec represented disciplines as varied as dance, children’s theatre, circus arts and traditional music. They attended the 25th annual edition of the Conference to network and establish partnerships or simply to discover new sources of inspiration. Attendees included:

  • La Bottine Souriante
  • De Temps Antan
  • Théâtre Tout à Trac
  • Cirque Alphonse
  • Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal

The Québec Government Office in Chicago (DQC) also sponsored the opening activity of the Conference, which brought together over 600 professionals from the field of culture and the arts. The DQC representatives took advantage of the Conference to promote Québec’s cultural offerings to major American presenters in addition to facilitating the networking of Québec booking agents.

DQC covers the twelve Midwest states. It promotes Québec throughout the region by, for example, helping Québec companies to develop networks of contacts in the United States.
