ITHQ wins the 2012 International Impact Award

On November 14, the Deputy Minister of International Relations, La Francophonie and External Trade, Michel Audet, together with the president of the jury, Diane Wilhelmy, presented the Public Administration of Québec (IAPQ) 2012 International Impact Award to the Québec Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITHQ).

The ITHQ, a centre of excellence in education specializing in tourism, hotel and restaurant services, distinguished itself by demonstrating its know-how and originality during activities organized for the visit of Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on July 2, 2011.

The jury was particularly impressed by the ITHQ’s daring in having the Duke and Duchess take part in preparing a meal featuring agricultural products from Québec.

Photos of Their Royal Highnesses participating in the culinary workshop were seen around the world, thereby helping build the ITHQ’s reputation and Québec’s brand image on the international scene.

The international press gave the event wide coverage with over 280 articles in print newspapers, on the Web and in electronic media. The news item was relayed by more than 1,400 media in 14 countries.

The visit generated positive results for ITHQ students who have been offered an increased number of internships abroad.

All Québec-based public administrations are eligible for the IAPQ’s International Impact Award. It is given to administrative units in recognition of the design and implementation of projects that contribute significantly to the international profile of their organization.
