Economy and Biofood at the Heart of the Cooperation Agreement Québec-Leningrad

On February 8, the Deputy Premier of Québec, François Gendron, met with the Vice-Governor of Leningrad Region on External Relations, Alexander Kuznetsov, who was invited to the Québec Winter Carnival. The meeting reaffirmed Québec’s interest for this Russian region.
Led by the Vice-Governor, the official delegation was made up of the Chairman of the Committee on Economic Development and Investments, Dmitry Yalov; the Chairman of the Committee on Press and Public Relations and member of the Government, Sergey Slobodsky; and the Chairman of the Committee for External Economic and Interregional Relations, Andrey Minin.
Besides the Russian political representatives, artists, athletes and chefs participated in the 59th Québec Winter Carnival. A meeting with the Mayor of Québec City, Régis Labeaume, was also scheduled.
Work Sessions with Economic Partners
Apart from the official program, the ministère des Relations internationales, de la Francophonie et du Commerce extérieur organized, along with its partners from the economic sector, work meetings with representatives of the following organizations:
- Canada Eurasia Russia Business Association (CERBA) Québec Metro High Tech Park
- Québec International
- Bombardier Recreational Products.
Québec’s interest towards Russia has witnessed a significant development during the last years at which time the Québec Government inaugurated, in September 2012, a Québec Government Office in Moscow. The objectives of this Office are, among others, to support exports growth and business partnerships in the Russian market.
