Minister Agnès Maltais carries out mission to New York

Minister Agnès Maltais gave her French counterpart, Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, Minister of Women's Rights and French Government Spokesperson, a copy of the Québec Government Action Plan on Domestic Violence.

Québec’s Minister responsible for the Status of Women, Agnès Maltais, was in New York City on March 4 and 5 to take part in a session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), as part of the Canadian delegation.

The priority theme of this year’s session was the elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls. At a parallel meeting, the member states of the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF) adopted a francophone action plan regarding violence against women. Minister Maltais also spoke with leaders of the pay equity cause in New York State.

The mission to New York was an opportunity for Agnès Maltais to meet with certain ministers responsible for the status of women in other French-speaking countries, including Najat Vallaud-Belkacem (France), Yanick Mézile (Haiti) and Marianna Sarr (Senegal).
