The Québec University Alumni Network in the United Kingdom held its annual conference at the Québec Government Office in London (DGQL) on May 2.

Nearly 180 people attended the event, which featured guest speaker Adam Blanshay, Québec producer and Chief Executive Officer of Just for Laughs Theatricals. Among other things, he talked about his new association with the Just for Laughs Group and his “scholastic trek” at McGill University.

On February 25, the Just for Laughs Group announced the creation of Just for Laughs Theatricals in London and New York City linking the Montréal production company to Broadway in the United States and the West End in England.

The networking activity allowed many participants to exchange views on their respective experiences in the United Kingdom. The graduates represented a number of alma maters, including the following universities:

  • Bishops
  • Concordia
  • HEC
  • Laval
  • McGill
  • Montréal
  • Polytechnique de Montréal
  • Sherbrooke
  • UQAM

DGQL Advisory Committee

Stéphane Paquet, Québec’s Agent-General in London, took advantage of Mr. Blanshay’s presence to announce the creation of a DGQL Advisory Committee. Mr. Paquet said that the committee would be charged with taking the pulse of the Québec community in the United Kingdom.

The committee will be made up of a dozen specialists, who will deal with the main areas of interest of the DGQL, including culture, the economy and public affairs.

The Agent-General also said that the DGQL Advisory Committee could count on Mr. Blanshay’s cultural product marketing experience because he had agreed to become a member of the committee.
