French teachers from around the world studying in Québec

Teachers from Latin America, the West Indies, Europe and the United States studying at Université Laval

Nearly 70 teachers of French as a foreign language from Latin America, the West Indies, the United States, Europe and Asia will be in Québec from July 8 to 26 as part of the 34th edition of the Stage en didactique du français, culture et société québécoises.

The four-credit, three-week university courese is offered by the language schools of Université Laval (Québec City) and Université de Montréal (Montréal) and is funded by the Ministère des Relations internationales, de la Francophonie et du Commerce extérieur.

The goal of the program, which consists of three parts, i.e., teaching, linguistics, and culture, is to:

  • Encourage teachers to use Québec educational material in their teaching and to organize learning and cultural activities in their classes to raise awareness about Québec
  • Make presentations on Québec at conferences and seminars and encourage the publication of articles on Québec in professional and scientific journals
  • Support the development of Québec studies centre abroad and facilitate collaboration between educational institutions in order to, among other things, increase exchanges of students and teachers between Québec and the targeted jurisdictions

This is an excellent opportunity for Québec to achieve the objective set out in Québec’s International Policy of promoting its identity and culture around the world.
A second cohort of students will be hosted in Montréal from July 29 to August 16, 2013.
