China interested in Québec’s green building expertise

Minister Lisée thinks that Québec has all it takes to penetrate China’s green building market

Jean-François Lisée, Minister of International Relations, La Francophonie and Export Trade, wrapped his recent mission to China by opening a Québec green building showcase in the Expansion Québec office in Shanghai.

China is targeting a billion square metres of green buildings by 2015 and wants 30% of all new buildings to be green by 2020.

According to Minister Lisée, “Québec has all it needs to tap into China’s fantastic environmentally friendly building sector. Québec’s green building industry has already carved out a place for itself as a privileged partner of the cities of Shanghai and Dalian, where pilot projects have already been deployed. Our businesspeople can attest to the fact that in a society where the political branch plays a major role in business decisions, Québec government support is a decisive factor for making headway with their projects.”

Québec’s green building showcase was designed by the Québec firm Coarchitecture. Between now and the end of November, it will highlight products and technologies developed by Nordic, Modulex, Soprema, IFCS, Bois DV and AmeriCan Structures.
