Peruvian Ambassador José A. Bellina with Minister Jean-François Lisée and Doris Sotomayor, Peruvian Consul General in Montréal.

José A. Bellina, Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Canada, called for closer economic and trade relations with Québec during an official visit to Québec City on October 22.

In the course of a discussion with Minister Jean-François Lisée, Ambassador Bellina also invited Québec and Peru to explore potential partnerships in high-priority areas for his country, such as higher education and vocational training, reinforcement of regional administrations and corporate social responsibility.

He pointed out that Québec is home to Canada’s largest Peruvian community, which has a population of close to 16,000.

In 2012, Québec exports to Peru totalled $71 million and imports from Peru amounted to $117 million.
