Pauline Marois meets with François Hollande

Pauline Marois introduced the new Economic Policy and discussed the Transportation Electrification Strategy with the French president

Pauline Marois concluded her mission to Europe with a meeting with French President François Hollande. Their discussion focused on several topics of common interest, especially economic matters.

“The Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement is of the utmost interest to Québec and France. This major undertaking, as well as the collaboration that we have just begun in the area of transportation electrification, create a particularly favourable context for strengthening our economic relations. I mentioned to the President that I would like these topics to be included on the agenda of his visit to Québec next year,” said the Premier.

The Premier presented Québec’s new Economic Policy to President Hollande. In addition to stressing the importance given to the Transportation Electrification Strategy, she outlined initiatives and measures aimed at promoting trade, investment, innovation and research.

“I presented our vision, which is one of an open economy that must constantly stimulate its trade to ensure its prosperity. As a special partner of Québec in Europe, we are calling on France to contribute to the implementation of that vision,” said the Premier.
During her visit to France, the Premier of Québec also met with Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault.

Together with France’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Pierre Moscovici, she launched the Franco-Québécois Group on transportation electrification. One of its mandates is to target collaborative projects between industrial and research communities in Québec and France.

The Premier also met France’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Laurent Fabius, in Monaco while participating in the World Policy Conference.
