Minister Christine St-Pierre participated in her first international mission in conjunction with the executive meeting of the Council of Great Lakes Governors (CGLG) on April 25 and 26 in Chicago. At this meeting, the next Summit of the Council of Great Lakes Governors was officially set for 2015 in Québec.

“I am thrilled that the Governors want to hold the conference in Québec, where I am certain we will make great strides in our projects," said Minister St-Pierre.

While attending the CGLG meeting, Minister St-Pierre shared Québec’s vision of the key economic and maritime issues in the region, at a time when the Québec government is planning to develop a maritime strategy.

The Minister also spoke to governors Pat Quinn (Illinois), Rick Snyder (Michigan) and Scott Walker (Wisconsin).

In 2013, trade between Québec and the 12 U.S. Midwestern states reached over $17 billion.
