Appointments to Tokyo and Los Angeles

Québec Government Office in Tokyo

The Cabinet has appointed a new Québec Delegate General in Tokyo and a new Québec Government Representative in Los Angeles.

DGQT

Claude-Yves Charron will take up his duties as Québec Delegate General in Tokyo on April 4, 2011. He is currently serving as General Secretary of ORBICOM, the International Network of UNESCO Chairs in Communications.

Mr. Charron did his postodoctoral studies in communications at McGill University and holds a graduate diploma in international public administration from École nationale d'administration publique (ENAP). Mr. Charron was a former Canadian diplomat based in Beijing. He also worked for the United Nations before becoming Vice Rector for Academic Services and Technological Development at Université du Québec à Montréal.

DQLA

Alain Houde has been appointed as Québec Government Representative in Los Angeles. He has been working in the Québec civil service since 1993. Mr. Houde is currently Regional Director (Montréal) for the Ministère du Développement économique, de l'Innovation et de l'Exportation (MDEIE). He has also served as Desk Officer, Coordinator and Interim Director of the Asia-Pacific, Africa and Middle East Division of MDEIE. He will take up his new duties on March 14, 2011.

Monique Gagnon-Tremblay, the Minister of International Relations and Minister responsible for La Francophonie, congratulated Mr. Charron and Mr. Houde for their appointments.
