Minister Gagnon-Tremblay in Mexico: mission accomplished!

On her return from a four-day mission to Mexico, Monique Gagnon-Tremblay, the Minister of International Relations and Minister responsible for La Francophonie, encouraged young Québec entrepreneurs to be more active on the Mexican market.
“Mexico is full of promise for Québec companies. I was impressed by the enthusiasm of our young entrepreneurs during the mission,” said the Minister.
Strengthening ties between Québec and Mexico
As well as speaking at a number of prestigious economic, political, and academic forums, the Minister held meetings with partners who are vital for Québec-Mexico relations. In Guadalajara, she met with the Governor of Jalisco and the ministers of education, culture, and the economy. In Mexico City, the Minister held discussions with the Mexican Minister of the Economy during the annual Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico (CCCM or CanCham) Day.
To further promote student mobility , the Minister reached an agreement with the Mexican Ministry of Education to offer reciprocal merit scholarships. She also reached an agreement with the President & CEO of the National Council for Science and Technology in Mexico to facilitate the funding of joint ventures in the fields of science and technology.
Mexico is a priority country under Québec’s International Policy. It is ranked as Québec’s 9th largest trade partner, with over 600 Québec companies doing business with Mexico. The Québec Government Office in Mexico has worked to promote economic, political, cultural, and educational relations with Mexico for 30 years.
