Haiti: Lise Thériault attends the swearing-in of Haiti’s new president

On May 14, Labour Minister Lise Thériault represented Quebec at the swearing-in of Michel Martelly, Haiti’s new president.

“Quebec is pleased to join its voice with that of the Haitian people in marking this historic occasion. Haiti is one of Quebec’s top international solidarity priorities and this is an important moment for us to forge ties with the new Haitian government in order to continue with the task of rebuilding the country,” said Ms. Thériault.

In addition to attending the swearing-in ceremony, Ms. Thériault held talks with President Martelly and reiterated Quebec’s commitment to Haiti’s recovery.
