The Québec Government Office in Barcelona (BQB) has supported Québec’s participation in EIBTM since 2004. Among other things, the trade fair is a platform for attracting international conventions and major events to Québec.
EIBTM was also an opportunity for Marc Tremblay, President and CEO of the Palais des congrès de Montréal, Marjolaine Ricard, Director of the BQB, and Alfons Calderon Riera, Economic Affairs Attaché, to discuss the economic challenges faced by international fairs and conventions.
In related news, the 18th World Congress on Information Technology will be held in Montréal from October 22 to 24, 2012. Québec City will also host major international events in 2012, including the Forum mondial de la langue française in July and the 5th World Congress of Agronomists and Agrologists. Québec’s bid to host the latter event was retained at the 2008 edition of the congress, held in Madrid.
