    Québec bolsters and diversifies its relations with India

    Québec’s third ministerial mission to India since 2010 got off to a great start. The mission is the first official trip to the subcontinent for Yves Bolduc, Minister of Health and Social Services, who has taken part in a number of meetings with officials, visited various sites and made a series of announcements since his arrival in India on Thursday, January 26.

    Minister of Health heads mission to India

    Québec Minister of Health and Social Services Dr. Yves Bolduc is heading a mission to India from January 26 to February 3. Minister Bolduc is accompanied by a delegation composed of some forty representatives from the business, research and health communities, which will travel to Mumbai and Delhi. Some participants from the aerospace research and innovation sector will also travel to Bangalore.

    Recognition for promoting foreign productions

    On behalf Monique Gagnon-Tremblay, the Minister of International Relations and Minister responsible for La Francophonie, Michelle Courchesne, the Minister responsible for Government Administration, Chair of the Conseil du Trésor and Minister responsible for the Laurentides region, presented the 2011 Hector-Fabre Award to the Bureau du cinéma et de la télévision Argenteuil-Laurentides (BCTAL) for promoting the Laurentides region in Québec, Canada and abroad as an attractive place for film, television and commercial productions.

    Promoting the Plan Nord

    Clément Gignac, Minister of Natural Resources and Wildlife and Minister responsible for the Plan Nord, is leading a mission to Scandinavia until January 29. The mission is an opportunity for dialogue on northern development and resource management practices and a chance to present Québec’s Plan Nord (Northern Plan) to Norwegian and Swedish business people.

    Hélène Lord in residence at Québec Studio in London

    Multidisciplinary Montréal artist Hélène Lord will be the next artist in creative residence at the Québec Studio in London. Ms. Lord will stay at the studio for six months, from January 10 to June 30, 2012. The Québec Studio was made possible by financial assistance from the Ministère des Relations internationales, the Ministère de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition féminine and the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ).

    A poetry slam to promote the vibrancy of the French language

    The Québec Government Office in Paris and the Délégation générale à la langue française et aux langues de France (General Delegation for the French Language and the Languages of France, or DGLFLF) are contributing support to the French national slam contest entitled "Vive la parole libre!" (Long live free speech!), which was organized by the France-Québec Association in partnership with France’s slam league Ligue Slam France. This contest is taking place across France to promote the vibrancy of the French language and the creativity of this type of art.
