    New York City: Delegate General John Parisella discusses Québec’s actions to promote the high-speed train

    On November 7, Delegate General John Parisella spoke in New York City at the U.S. High Speed Rail Association (USHSR) conference. Mr. Parisella participated in the opening session of the conference, along with U.S. Secretary of Transportation, Ray LaHood, and the Director General of the International Union of Railways, Jean-Pierre Loubinoux.

    Strong Québec participation in 7th UNESCO Youth Forum

    The 7th UNESCO Youth Forum took place from October 17 to 20 at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. Les Offices jeunesse internationaux du Québec (LOJIQ) backed the participation of a delegation of young Quebec adults, including an artist, six observers and an intern. The Forum was a chance for them to discuss opinions, share experience and identify possibilities for future commitments and efforts.

    Jean Charest presents Plan Nord for former Mexican President Vicente Fox

    Premier Jean Charest met with former Mexican President Vicente Fox during a Symposium on Democracy, Parliamentarians and the Media organized by the Québec National Assembly. The meeting was an opportunity for Premier Charest to tell Vicente Fox about Québec’s Plan Nord (Northern Plan) and take stock of economic trade between Québec and Mexico. Mexico is a high-priority, promising market for Québec. Annual trade between the two jurisdictions adds up to $3.7 billion.

    Minister of International Relations expects to see more Québec-Brazil partnerships

    At the end of a five-day mission to Brazil, Monique Gagnon-Tremblay, Minister of International Relations and Minister responsible for La Francophonie, said that she expects to see a number of new partnerships between Québec and Brazil in the areas of green energy and research and innovation, given the existence of an array of shared interests and complementary expertise.

    Premier Charest meets with Guinean President to discuss investment opportunities in Guinea

    The President of the Republic of Guinea, Alpha Condé, was in the Québec capital on October 25 for the Québec City Conference. He took advantage of his stay to meet with Premier Jean Charest, Sam Hamad, Minister of Economic Development, Innovation and Export Trade, and Clément Gignac, Minister of Natural Resources and Wildlife, to discuss opportunities to develop economic relations between Québec and Guinea.
