Developing new markets in New England

Québec Government Representative in Boston Marie-Claude Francœur and FCCQ President and CEO Françoise Bertrand

Marie-Claude Francœur, the Québec Government Representative in Boston, accompanied Françoise Bertrand, the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec, during her mission to New England from October 2 to 4.

The purpose of the mission, which was conducted in partnership with the Ministère des Relations internationales, de la Francophonie et du Commerce extérieur, was to energize the trade corridors between Québec and the New England states, consolidate existing relations with a number of long-standing partners, and develop new opportunities for SMEs looking to tap these markets.

Several market segments were targeted by this first mission:

  • Renewable energies
  • Research and development
  • Information and communication technologies
  • Transportation

The following cities were visited: Burlington, Vermont; Boston, Andover and Needham, Massachusetts; Hartford, Connecticut and Concord, New Hampshire.

The economic mandate of the Québec Government Office in Boston includes increasing exports from Québec to New England, promoting Québec industries in New England and encouraging scientific and technological partnerships between Québec and New England.
