    Standing ovation for 1st Québec Cinema Showcase in London!

    As part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of its opening, the Québec Government Office in London (DGQL) presented the first Québec Cinema Showcase during the 20th French Film Festival UK from November 2 to 4.

    London and Manchester: promoting Québec’s renewable technologies

    Six Québec businesses from the clean technology industry participated in a trade mission in the United Kingdom from February 11 to 15. This mission was organized by UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), in partnership with the Québec Government Office in London, Écotech Québec, and the British Consulate-General in Montreal.

    Successful mission to London by Minister Alexandre Cloutier

    Minister responsible for Intergovernmental Affairs and Sovereignist Governance Alexandre Cloutier has just ended a two-day mission to London. During his first overseas mission, he represented the Government of Québec at a gala marking 50 years of economic relations between Québec and the United Kingdom and also met with representatives of the political and academic establishments of the British capital.

    Hélène Lord’s Infinite City exhibition on show in London

    The London public had a chance to discover the Infinite City exhibition at Vyner Street Gallery in London June 7 to 12, 2012, including a watercolour by multidisciplinary Québec artist Hélène Lord, who was in residence at the Québec Studio in London. Composed of a series of small scenes, the mosaic shows the places visited by the artist during her six-month stay in the English capital.

    Six playwrights, translators and artistic directors from the United Kingdom, Québec and the Americas were invited to share their views on playwriting at a roundtable held on May 30 at the Carrefour international de théâtre de Québec.

    Government of Québec and British Council celebrate ten years of collaboration!

    The tenth anniversary of an agreement between Québec and the British Council was celebrated recently during an event held to coincide with a performance of the play ANA at the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh, Scotland. The evening was held in the presence of Fiona Hyslop, Scottish Cabinet Secretary for Culture and Foreign Affairs, and Graham Scheffield, Director Arts of the British Council, who each gave a speech to about a hundred guests.

    UK mission for Minister Monique Gagnon-Tremblay

    Monique Gagnon-Tremblay, Minister of International Relations and Minister responsible for La Francophonie, will carry out a mission to the United Kingdom from March 14 to 17. In addition to participating in political meetings in the British capital, she will take the opportunity to launch a year-long program of activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Québec Government Office in London.

    Promoting the Plan Nord

    Clément Gignac, Minister of Natural Resources and Wildlife and Minister responsible for the Plan Nord, is leading a mission to Scandinavia until January 29. The mission is an opportunity for dialogue on northern development and resource management practices and a chance to present Québec’s Plan Nord (Northern Plan) to Norwegian and Swedish business people.
